What is traditional afternoon tea?

Standing as one of Britain’s most cherished social rituals, an elegant light meal taken between noon and five, Afternoon Tea is built around the pleasures of fine tea, good company and beautifully prepared food.

A tradition credited to Anna Russell, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, who in 1840 began requesting a tray of tea and light refreshments to bridge the long gap between luncheon and fashionably late evening dinners.

We serve Afternoon Tea at Inglewood Manor the traditional way, best fit for the Wirral. Three distinct tiers of our afternoon tea include; savoury finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, and sweet patisserie and cakes to finish off the tiers.
